Install Repyra on Android and iPhone without an app store
Exact steps to put Repyra on your home screen from Chrome or Safari, what you gain (notifications, full screen), what needs HTTPS, and how desktop works.

Key takeaways
- Android: Chrome menu, then Install app. iPhone: Safari Share, then Add to Home Screen.
- Installing gives you a full-screen app and, on iPhone, the only way to get notifications.
- Nothing to download from a store, and your data syncs across every device you sign in on.
Repyra is not in the Play Store or the App Store. It is a web app that installs from your browser, which means no 80 MB download, no store account, and updates that arrive the next time you open it. Here are the exact steps for both phones, and what you get from installing versus just bookmarking.
Android (Chrome)
- Open the Repyra site in Chrome.
- Tap the three-dot menu in the top right.
- Tap Install app. On some phones it says Add to Home screen instead.
- Confirm. The icon appears on your home screen and in the app drawer.
Chrome sometimes shows an Install banner at the bottom of the page on its own; tapping that does the same thing. Samsung Internet and other Chromium browsers have a similar option in their menus, usually under Add page to, then Home screen.
iPhone (Safari)
- Open the Repyra site in Safari. It has to be Safari; Chrome on iPhone cannot install web apps.
- Tap the Share button, the square with an arrow pointing up, at the bottom of the screen.
- Scroll down the list and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add in the top right.
Open Repyra from the new icon, not from Safari, from now on. This matters for notifications, explained below.
What installing actually changes
| Bookmark in browser | Installed to home screen | |
|---|---|---|
| Opens full screen, no address bar | No | Yes |
| Icon on home screen | Manual | Yes |
| Push reminders on Android | Yes (Chrome) | Yes |
| Push reminders on iPhone | No | Yes |
| Stays signed in | 30 days | 30 days |
| Workout mode timer and beep | Yes | Yes |
The big one is iPhone notifications. Apple only lets web apps send notifications after they are added to the Home Screen and opened from there. If you want the workout reminder or the 21:00 nudge on an iPhone, you must install. After installing, open Profile, then Reminders, and tap Enable notifications.
HTTPS: why it matters
Two features depend on the site being served over HTTPS, which the normal Repyra address is:
- Push reminders. Browsers refuse to register notifications on plain HTTP.
- The live barcode camera on the Food tab. Camera access is HTTPS-only (or localhost, for developers). On HTTP you can still type the barcode number or take a photo of the barcode.
If someone gives you a plain http:// link to a test copy, those two things will not work, and that is expected.
Signing in on a second device
Your account is email and password, and everything syncs. Install on your phone for the gym and open the same site on your laptop for the weekly report; at 900 px and wider the app switches to a left sidebar with two columns, which is a nicer place to read the Report tab and the Exercise library.
If two devices save at the same moment, for example you log lunch on the laptop while your phone finishes syncing a workout, the newer copy is merged and nothing is silently dropped. Each login lasts 30 days per device. If you lose a phone, Profile has Log out everywhere, which signs out every device at once; then change your password.
Storage and offline
The installed app is small. The one large download is the 3D exercise model, which loads the first time you open the 3D tab in the exercise guide and is cached after that. Open a few exercises on WiFi before a gym session if your data plan is tight.
Without internet you can still see your plan and logs, and the rule-based plan keeps giving you a session when the AI is unreachable. The Coach chat, food search over the AI meal plan, barcode lookup on Open Food Facts and sync all need a connection.
Updating and removing
There is nothing to update manually. When I ship a change, the app picks it up the next time you open it with a connection. To remove it, long-press the icon and uninstall, like any app. Your account and data stay on the server, so reinstalling and signing in brings everything back.
A sample first session on a new phone
- Install using the steps above.
- Open from the home-screen icon and sign in. Your profile, plan and history load.
- Profile, then Reminders, then Enable notifications. Allow the permission prompt.
- Today tab: tap the Water tile once to confirm sync is working; the tile should update on your other device within a moment.
- Open one exercise's 3D tab on WiFi so the model is cached before you reach the gym.
Five minutes, and the new phone behaves exactly like the old one.
Questions people ask
Why is Repyra not in the Play Store or App Store?
It is a web app that installs from the browser, so there is nothing to download from a store and updates arrive automatically. It works the same once installed.
Can I install from Chrome on iPhone?
No. On iPhone only Safari can add web apps to the Home Screen. Open the site in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
Will I lose my data if I uninstall?
No. Your data is stored on your account and synced. Reinstall or open the site in any browser, sign in, and everything is there.
